Primary and Kindergarten

Montessori Primary(Preschool) and Kindergarten Program Primary students focus on applying all the lessons they encounter to everyday life.

Parker Montessori is a pure and authentic Montessori school. The primary classroom in our school is designed to accommodate children from the ages of three through six. Classes are composed of mixed-age groups to allow for cognitive stimulation while also meeting each child’s social and emotional needs. The purpose of this program is to enrich and promote the further development of each child’s natural curiosity and zest for learning. Each class has a wide variety of materials for hands-on exploration and trained teachers that instill self-confidence through risk-taking, further questioning, and exploration. A child must be at least three years old and toilet-trained to enroll in this program, though it is up to the teachers and directors to decide when a child is ready.

"My son's teacher is excellent at recognizing my son's individual learning strengths and building upon them. The staff provides a friendly, supportive, nurturing environment for my son to learn and play."

- Megan, parent of one student and one alumna

The Classroom

Our environment or classroom is specifically designed with Montessori materials in mind. We encourage all children to explore and discover the unlimited potential of these materials. A Montessori certified teacher, as well as her assistant(s), are there to nurture, observe and help the child to find and follow their way to discover the love of learning. Each classroom has the following areas: practical life, sensorial, language, math, geography, science, art, and culture.

Our Kindergarten Program is a full day program, with very high academic standards. Our Kindergarten children have an opportunity to work with very concrete materials, as they also engage in more abstract work, preparing them for elementary school. Our Kindergartners are in the Primary classroom in the morning, doing advanced Montessori work appropriate for their skill level. In the afternoon, they engage in more abstract work but still has the opportunity to support the need of the child for concrete hands-on activities. This helps the child to transition into more abstract thinking while still supporting his/her need to engage in meaningful hands-on activities. Our kindergarten program allows leadership and social skills to develop as well as the necessary basic and higher level thinking skills. They graduate from our kindergarten program as caring, confident, lifelong learners. Our program emphasizes a balance of basic educational skills with the excitement of Geography, Science, Cultural Studies, History and the Arts
